“Don’t be afraid to shine.Be the moon in the dark cold sky, and let your inner radiance be your main force.”
―
Radiance is potent and energizing. It creates awe, is inspiring, and encourages hope. We have all been in the presence of someone who possesses this quality. Radiance is sensed when great happiness exudes from someone’s expression or bearing. You may have experienced it with a bride-to-be or proud new parents, or perhaps you have been fortunate to have been in the presence of a spiritual teacher like the Dalia Lama. We are attracted to this appealing energy; unknowingly, its simple existence transforms the receivers.
Yet, radiance is not a mystery held by a chosen few, and it need not be fleeting. We all have the power to generate and sustain this energy.
Radiance exists as a by-product of happiness. Happiness is not an external thing that happens. It is not something attained; it is quietly discovered. Its grace comes when we become at peace with what is. This acceptance appears to others like a passive state, but it is not. Peace is a subtle vibration; it is pure consciousness.
Our vibration is a mix of continuously changing frequencies of our body, emotions, and thoughts at any given moment. The more we acknowledge we have the power to enhance these vibrations, the stronger our vibration will be.
To be happy, walking around with joy in our hearts and a smile on our faces is possible. But it takes some effort, and more than anything, it takes practice.
Often, it is how we have learned to be, our habits, that prevent us from experiencing the profound radiance of happiness. Yet, we can flourish if we understand the power of intention and unshackle ourselves from others’ limiting thoughts. Then, all emotions, feelings, and ideas can be transformed.
For example, Brene Brown states: “Rage — is a powerful energy that, with diligent practice, can be transformed into fierce compassion.”
Creating Radiance Daily
Since radiance is a consequence of happiness, we can focus on being happy, and radiance will follow. As we practice, it becomes easier to sustain.
The fastest track to happiness is gratitude. As soon as we focus on the things we are grateful for, all of the things we have, whether simple or extravagant, we lose sight of the things we lack. The result is appreciation for what it is and compassion for others.
The more conscious and aware we are when having negative thoughts and emotional outbursts, the broader our point of view will become. Our brains are wired to become hyper-focused when having intense emotions or negative thoughts. While this was important for survival at one point, it is less important in day-to-day life. It only subtracts from becoming happy.
This consciousness extends to gossip and complaining. Make it part of your day to cease both of these habits, and your level of happiness will naturally rise. Remember to build others up instead of tearing them down.
Find serenity wherever you can. The more energy we give to what is not working, the more it persists, robbing us of peace. Seek out kindness and contribution rather than anger and discord. Look for environments that envelop you with calm and comfort. Develop a tranquil routine in your daily life, turn off devices, be in nature, or uncover what works for you.
Form a meditation routine. Meditation is not about getting rid of thoughts; they are impermanent and come and go. So, as we practice, we are learning to dissociate ourselves from our thoughts and emotions. Regular meditation can increase mindfulness and purpose in life and decrease illnesses while elevating our overall vibration.
Becoming more radiant happens with time. The more we let go of those things, feelings, thoughts, people, and situations that do not contribute to our well-being and happiness, we add to our reservoir of radiance. Every human being is energy stored in mass particle form. Power does not decrease by exertion. Instead, it is sustained by the more we share, the more it grows. So, the next time you feel low, spread a dose of radiance and watch your power flow. It is a win-win.
Energy begets energy. The more we have, the more we generate, yet it always leads to the more we share, the more we become, and the more we become it, the more we can light up the world.
Happiness is a quality of the soul…not a function of one’s material circumstances.
